Workshop alert! Learn a new skill this weekend...
Meet local ceramic artist, Rose Wallace and learn how to make your own ceramic token with a handwritten inscription for a keepsake, a commemorative date or just for fun! No experience is necessary and you can make in minutes!*
Rose will demonstrate a centuries – old pottery technique called ‘tissue – transfer’ enabling your own words to become permanently captured upon clay. See how Rose employs this technique to decorate her own ceramic work or come in for a chat with your ideas for a unique commission. Download a special photo to be transferred upon ceramic or recreated as one of her ‘Flatback Figure’ series; recalling traditional Staffordshire ornaments but with a surprising difference; hers are crafted from casts of contemporary packaging and discarded domestic ephemera.
Rose lives in East Oxford and is a professional member of the Craft Potters’ Association and works from Magdalen Road Studios.
Please note this workshop is suitable for children aged 12+
*Rose will fire and glaze your tokens for collection from the shop in a couple of weeks.
